It's
not about "war"... WAR is abbreviation of Winter Adventure Raid, the
most challenging winter adventure race in Latvia. Off course, there
is a kind of fight in adventure racing. Two years ago there was even
shooting... ...in biathlon shooting range... :) But mostly
it's about teamwork, adventure and fair play.

OVERVIEW
6th edition of the most challenging
winter adventure race in Baltic countries!
And this is extremely tense: winner is unknown till the award ceremony!
Date: February
27-28
Place: Latvia NE, Vidzeme region
Race time: 8 or 24 hours (team can rest at exchange zone - warm sport hall!)
Race format: stages, mostly - rogaine
Team: 3 members, both genders must be present
Disciplines: cross country skiing,
trekking, biking, orienteering, underground task
Navigation: orienteering by map, all
stages - rogaining
Checkpoints: SPORTident electronic control system
(SI card attached to every team member!)

It is interesting, complicated and
strategic race. And extremely friendly as well teams spend lot of time together, communicate between the stages
Stages start and finish at the same place - sport hall. Participants
are allowed to use spare equipment, clothes, food.
There is mandatory 1 hour break at night which can be used for some
sleep and preparation as well...
